Fix It
Struggling through a project might make you want to give up. Here is my perspective on the lessons I’ve been learning with the creation of this piece of artwork, lessons that apply to all of us regardless of what the problem facing you is. When you feel that you should just throw the baby out with the bathwater, stop, step back, and reassess. You might just be able to salvage the best parts and fix the rest. Whatever you do, don’t give up!
Popping Up
Winter is over, and it’s time to come out of hibernation. Spring is making its presence known through a variety of signs popping up all over the place. Crocuses and snowdrops, returning song birds, the greening up of the lawn, and the shoots of perennial flowers and herbs. Turns out there are personal, professional, and community building opportunities popping up all around me as well. Spring is a time for planting seeds whether they are for plants or for future plans. How can we all take the time to notice all the things that are popping up around us?
Build
We are all builders at heart. Each day we plan, draft, draw up the blueprints of our life. We learn skills, build relationships, create, assemble, and collaborate. Sometimes our efforts fail and we have to go back to the drawing board, and may feel like giving up. Today’s read is about how to stick with it, even when the going gets tough.
Digging Deep
Spring is on its way, and I’m itching to get out and work in the garden. Unfortunately, there is still quite a bit of snow still on the ground, and it is too early to start digging. That’s led me to reflect on what does it mean to dig deep. From that starting point, this post delves into a lesson on plant roots, their functions, and how that can teach us about digging deep into ourselves. How can we take root and prepare to bloom?
Joy is Strategic
In the midst of all the chaos going on right now, one voice in the many that I heard had the message that “Joy is Strategic.” How can we each use joy to help us get through the ups and downs that we are facing. In addition, can we use connection and joy to help move us forward. Joy can and must be part of our resistance toolkit.
Planting
Hope springs eternal they say. For anyone who plants a garden or farms the land knows this nugget of wisdom to be true. This week’s post is about learning how important it is to understand how our food system works and the role each one of us can play in it. Growing your own food, even if it is a small pot of herbs on your window sill is an act of great hope and resistance.
